Double Nuts

ZOMFG I'm so hyped. Just saw the MV for I Don't Care, the first single from Folie A Deux. The MV itself proves the pwnage of FOB. (Although most S'porean teens still remain tragically oblivious to that.) The vid has hell lot of guest celebs, and not just from the music industry. I even saw (ROFLMAOOL) Sarah Palin. (Hmm. FOB supports Obama. Which I do too, coincidentally.)

Folie A Deux means the "shared madness of two" (a.k.a a "relationship") which is such a cool new angle on it. I Don't Care is, musically/commercially a exact clone of Arms Race. A great rock anthem chorus but lyrically weak verses. And the breakdown's a bit...jazzy. Which is surprising, but not actually that bad.

Anyway, I hope FOB doesn't stray too far away from their TTTYG and FUCT musical style. The diversity on IOH was good, but also showed warning signs. I was already devastated by Panic!, and I can't take a second fatal blow. (Job. Lololol. Can't help it.)

Now I'm torn between deciding who's more talented, FOB or Green Day. If I'm just looking at the band and its members, FOB wins hands down. But musically, they're totally equally matched. Fall Out Boy's being led by a freaking musical genius, Patrick Stump (he joined FOB as a drummer, had his godlike vocals discovered, then picked up guitar) but Green Day has lasted a bit longer and is one of the only indie rock bands from the 90s to make it to mainstream and coexist with teens of the new millennium. Also, American Idiot, as an entire album, beats all of FOB's albums.

Was actually intending to review Don't You Fake It by the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, but I guess I can save it for next time.

Can find happiness in misery"

Living, Dying, Lying

"True friends stab you right in the face." That's one of the most freaking cool quotes I've heard.

Anyway, wanna do some music critism. Commentary. The rest of the world's got me PC too.

Most albums by non-mainstream bands will have a songs that sounds poppier and more catchy than the rest of the album. This is, like, their money song. (a.k.a Single) It gets to be a ringtone and a vid but usually isn't as good. Infinity On High's single was Arms Race, Simple Plan's was When I'm Gone, Decemberunderground's was Miss Murder, (which is just as good as the rest of the album. Great exception) The Best Damn Thing's was the horrific Girlfriend, (totally crushed me. I thought Avril was this emo-punk chick. Then I realise it didn't change her chio-ness and life went on) Boys Like Girls' was The Great Escape... You get my drift. Actually these songs are the ones you like the first time you listen to the album but they fade out in the long run. It's kinda sad to see bands need to do this to make money. As in, go against their true musical direction. Just shows how screwed tastes are now. Sad.

Been reading album reviews. It's really cool the way they discribe the music, with references to music "scenes" and past hits and similar bands. And they've pretty intelligent tastes. If it's pop, they'll acknowledge that it's catchy but soon to burnout. If it's some kinda weird genre like folk or country or jazz, I don't really read. If it's punk, they reference and compared it to FALL OUT BOY. Muahahahahahahaha. It's better than the Grammys.

EOYs coming. Shit.

"What's the hook, the twist within this verbose mystery?
I would gladly bet my life upon it
That the ghost you love, you ray of light will fizzle out
Without hope
We're the empty set just flowing through wrapped in skin
Ever searching for what we were promised
Reaching for the golden ring we'd never let go
Who would ever let us put their filthy hands upon it?"
~Miss Murder by AFI
(That's the breakdown (critics' term) of Miss Murder. Damn sinister. =) )

Leave well enough alone

Blogging alot less now, coz I can now SMS just about my only reader. But I'm inviting Gunny, so I guess I'll need to start posting again.

Just some sketch show-style comedy...

How to not get beat up in a shady LAN crawling with pai kias:
  1. As you enter the LAN, find a reason to insult your companion's mother, preferable with a word that sounds like "cheese pie".
  2. Mess up your hair, if it isn't already "artfully dishevelled".
  3. Scream about how you're "outta cigarettes" and that your "cocaine supplier ditched you".
  4. If you have a cap, don't cover your head entirely. Let it sit there like it's the 1960s and afros are hip. (The pai kias love doing that. Dunno why.)
  5. Swagger a bit.
  6. Untie the laces on one shoe. The dudes love scruffyness.
  7. Have something in your mouth that you can chew nonchalantly. Try to be noisy with it.
  8. When playing, randomly accuse people of KS-ing. (eg. A PA and a Troll asks you, PotM, to start a gank. You shoot an arrow and miss. Then you try to leap but gets stuck in the trees. PA flings a dagger and Troll permabashes the guy to death. You shout. "Who the F***ER go and KS me?! My MOTHERF***ing arrow got him into PA's range and my leap IAS aura let Troll permabash!! F*** you all. All your mothers no (CHEESE PIE)!! F***head f***dick f***shit mindf***ers!!) @#%^@!!!) Hopefully the gangters there dunno hokkien and will be intimidated but not pissed. If they are, you're screwed.
  9. Don't feed, but don't pwn too much. Just don't get noticed. (Be a TA and meld in the mid lane for the whole game, leeching exp. After an hour, go use your gold per second $$$ and get a chicken army. They'll love you.)
  10. Finally, don't even go near the LAN if you're buckteethed, wearing a checkered tie, a plaid shirt, wearing thick, black nerd glasses (save the chic geek look for uni. Heard it's all the rage there.) or tight trousers. The pai kias will instantly smell the Scent of the Nerd in the air and immediately attempt to kick your balls. Dozens of legs aiming at one crotch isn't a nice feeling. Then they'll slice and dice you faster then those gAyE chefs and Japanese steak houses (yum). You probably won't come home.

Fall Out Boy's album's coming out Nov 4th. OMG. Can't wait for it.

Sorry

I've learn't never to get my hopes up, and you should too. It's never gonna make it if you're gonna be so hopelessly hopeful. Not that it's your fault. We've already decided that the bad guy's "society", remember?

Haiz. Cheer up. And don't go near sharp stuff.

Deprivation. Depravation.

You sounded better over the phone. And the call sorta cured me. The emoness was just withdrawal symptoms from you-deprivation. Coz you weren't blogging much. That's hinting.

Nothing much to blog about right now. Decided not to post the poem coz I suddenly don't like it. Yea, fickle.

The Music or the Misery

I only started this post cause I saw Pris' tag.

I was emo-ing just a while ago. And I don't mean brooding-emoing. I must be pretty fun to watch when I'm emoing. I lie on my bed, blasting my ears. And I can feel the shit of my life almost physically bleed out of me as I writhe there. I basically look like a spaz psycho. But it works. So don't laugh too loud.

When I do that I also usually think. Like, big thoughts, whatever. Just realised about how I'm critcal about how everyone's not being honest but I am being a hypocrite too. Just more sutbly. Like as if the mask I was wearing has meld into me and now I don't even feel it. (Haiz. Even when I'm in a bad mood, I'm still a sucker for overdramatic poetry.) But it pretty much reflects what was going through my head.

Also sorted out why I'm not feelijng so good nowadays. She is FREAKING bittersweet. A double-edged sword. Whatever cliche you put in, it's true. I must be the guy that get that acidic feeling the most times in a day on earth. I'm amazed that I'm sticking through with it. Usually I know when to give up.

If this post doen't make sense, I don't blame you. I'm putting down thoughts I don't even feel anymore, even though I thought them just minutes ago. Cause when I emo it's like a high. (Ironic, huh? Emo/High) Like drug high. And I don't feel what I felt after the emotherapy.

You must be thinking I'm pretty unstable. But everyone has their demons, no matter how shallow/okay they look/are. Yiling said that. She's alot deeper than I thought. (Judge. Book. Cover.)

Realised that I'm rambling on and this post is turning out to be alot longer than I intended. Gonna end now. It felt good immortalising my emoness on the blog.

"We're the lifers
Until the bitter end.
Condemned from the start.
Ashamed of the way
The songs and the words own
The beating of our hearts."
~Sophomore Slump or Comback of the Year

PS: (Since when did I do this?) Gonna finally type out a poem I wrote a long time ago next time I post. And maybe a bit more music critique.

Love Me If You're Rich

Those T-Shirt designers are at it again.

3 day weekend. Everyone's favourite.

Been working hard. (Who are you and what have you done to the real Shao Xun?!) Really. 3.0 GPA may be kinda ambitious, but hopefully by year-end can.

I've been thinking, and I realised that no matter how screwed other things are, there'll always be that certainty. I should be DAMN thankful. I am, actually.

Playing WarCraft right now; you should be thankful that I'm even bothering to post. Point is, I'm gonna end now. I have some pretty big/deep/dark thoughts that I wanna put on paper (ok, screen) but not now.
